![]() All images, text, JavaScript and HTML Code ©1995- by llamamusic.com This web browser utility reads Behringer WAVE *.SYX Preset files from a computer, tablet or smartphone and displays Wavetable info for all 200 Presets, 100 Presets or 1 solitary Preset. Click the 'Choose File' button to load a WAVE *.SYX file. You may then copy the Preset wavetable info from the screen and paste it into a text file or a spreadsheet. This can be useful for identifying specific sets to help organize your WAVE sound library. The wavetable info displayed is dependent on how the *.SYX file was saved. The three choices are: Dump All Banks (200 Presets - Bank 0 + Bank 1) Dump Bank Presets (100 Presets - Bank 0 -or- Bank 1) Dump Single Preset (1 Solitary Preset) Version 1.0(βετΔ) - 07/22/2025 • Initial Release (Tested on a WAVE w/firmware v1.0.7 and v1.0.11) • This version only works with a set of 200 Presets (Bank 0 + Bank 1) ‣ The plan for Version 1.1 is to add functionality for 100 Presets (Bank 0 -or- Bank 1) and 1 solitary Preset Version 1.1 - 07/26/2025 • Added the ability to display three different *.SYX Preset files: 200 Presets - Bank 0 + Bank 1 100 Presets - Bank 0 -or- Bank 1 1 solitary Preset Version 1.2 - 08/03/2025 • Minor formatting for the screen display Extra Info 1) You can download original Behringer WAVE factory Presets (Bank 0 + Bank 1) in SysEx files which will work with this utility here. There are six variations including banks containing 200 Presets each from firmware v1.0.7 and v1.0.11 plus individual Banks 0 or 1 which contain 100 Presets each 2) In order to save a Preset file via SysEx, the WAVE synthesizer must be connected directly to a computer using a USB "Type‑B" Cable. Using the Behringer SynthTribe Utility ‑or‑ a Generic SysEx Utility via USB will work fine. To date, I've not been able to successfully send or receive SysEx files via MIDI cables with this new WAVE synth. Quite Odd! The MIDI is functional for connecting other keyboards and modules it but does not work via MIDI to transmit SysEx files for unknown reasons. I will be investigating further 3) When using this utility on a Mac system (and some newer Windows systems), to speed up the load process, open a Finder window and search for all *.SYX files. Drag one file at a time from the Finder window directly onto the "Choose File (Safari/Chrome)" or "Browse (FireFox)" button in this browser utility. The file will then be read automatically without having to drill down and search through several directories (click for larger image) 4) The current WAVE firmware has the ability to store Preset names consisting of 16 ASCII characters 1‑byte long. However, for unknown reasons the engineers at Behringer did not include this Preset naming feature for use with the LCD or OLED screens. Also, There is no button or knob interaction which allows the entry or editing of any Preset names in ASCII. Hopefully this feature will be included in future firmware revisions so that Preset names are able to appear on the LCD or OLED screens for easy identification. As of now, all Preset names are stored in the *.SYX file only as a string of ASCII characters containing all numeric "ones" (1111111111111111) 5) This utility works great when working with all of the built‑in wavetables and transients. Several are hardcoded on the IC chips in the synthesizer and they all have unique names for easy identification (EchoScape Spectrum, Harmonic Sweep Oscillation, etc...). The downside to using this utility is that you won't be able to take advantage of the features when using your own custom wavetables and transients. The reason is because the Behringer WAVE lacks the ability to name your own custom wavetables and transients. When you save a large set of custom wavetables or transients to a *.SYX file, no descriptions of the wavetables or transients will be displayed and will only appear as: User Defined Wavetable (1) -or- User Defined Transient (2) (1) = User Defined Wavetable #64 Through #127 (Can Be Overwritten Using The SynthTribe App) (2) = User Defined Transient #32 Through #63 (Can Be Overwritten Using The SynthTribe App) Questions & Answers
Q: Is there any way to run this utility offline without being connected to the Internet?
A: Absolutely! It's quite easy. Right‑click on the weblinks b‑wave_reader.html & b‑wave_Reader_Release_Notes.html, use the "Download Linked File As..." option within your browser and save these two files to a folder on your hard drive. Everything will work exactly the same. To make it look identical with all the original images, right‑click and use the "Save Image As..." option and save these nine images in the same folder as the HTML files: b-wave.jpg PRG_icon.jpg wave_promo_square.jpg Drag_and_Drop_WAVE.jpg computer_bug.gif arrow_l.gif text_icon.jpg wave_presets_promo.jpg paypal_donate_smaller.jpgI designed this as an online utility for three reasons: 1) No software to install 2) It's easier to distribute this way as a simple webpage 3) The most current version will always be available online Q: Can you add a feature which allows the ability to edit and write Preset and Tone names? A: No way, José! Apple, Mozilla and Google go out of their way to make sure that browsers can't write data directly onto the hard drive because of hackers. The only way to write to the hard drive would be to make a stand‑alone program which doesn't use a browser. I don't code anything other than HTML so no plans for a stand‑alone program are in the works
