Items Needed
- ST‑Link/V2 Hardware Programmer For STM8 And STM32 (A)
- Five DuPont Female to Female Jumper Cables (B)
- Download Windows STM32 ST‑LINK Utility (STSW‑LINK004) (C)
- Download Plaits firmware (Google "MI PCB FB DIY Reference")
- Two files are needed... a Bootloader file and a HEX file
- plaits_bootloader.hex
- plaits.hex
Procedure
- Connect the ST‑Link/V2 Programmer via USB cable to Windows PC
- Connect the 4-pin SWD Header on the Plaits PCB to the ST-Link/V2 Programmer using the five DuPont Jumper cables (See Wiring Diagram Below)
- Apply power to the Plaits module as you normally would using a standard 10‑pin 2.54mm IDC ribbon power cable from your Eurorack case power supply
- i.e. connect it to the 10‑pin power header on the Plaits PCB
- Power on the computer and run the STM32 ST‑LINK Utility
- From the drop‑down menu choose Target > Settings
- Select the following items
- Connection Settings: SWD (Radio Button)
- Frequency: 4.0MHz
- Mode: Normal
- Reset Mode: Software System Reset
- From the drop‑down menu choose Target > Connect
- The LED on the ST-Link/V2 Programmer will start blinking red and green
- From the drop‑down menu choose Target > Program & Verify...
- Click the BROWSE button and choose plaits_bootloader.hex then press the START Button
- The status window should respond with "Verification...OK"
- From the drop‑down menu choose Target > Program & Verify...
- Click the BROWSE button and choose plaits.hex then press the START Button
- The status window should respond with "Verification...OK"
- If there are no errors shown in the status window, the firmware installation is complete
- Power off the Eurorack case, unplug the ST‑Link/V2 Programmer from the Clouds JTAG connector, power on the Eurorack case and test the Clouds module
